A Story Rooted in Family Traditions
The story of Schultz Florist began in Chicago in 1953. Back then, the flower shop was called Olander Florist and served the Roseland area. Today, Schultz Florist is a third-generation family-owned and operated flower shop that delivers the freshest blooms and plants around Chicago with two locations in Harvey, IL, and New Lenox, IL.
The owner of Schultz Florist, Troy Schultz, was born into a family-owned floral business; they even had a crib for baby Troy in the design room. As a child of a flower shop, Troy was immersed in every aspect of the floral world. He would help out by filling water tubes for stems, processing new flowers that arrived at the shop, and cleaning buckets. At 16, Troy began delivering and designing arrangements, and by 18, he was working at the flower shop full-time.
Troy was always seeking ways to improve the business, introducing new technologies to modernize operations and enhance efficiency.
In 1991, Troy married his high school sweetheart, Christy, who didn't hesitate to join the family business. Together, in 1996 at the age of 27, Troy and Christy officially purchased Olander Florist, taking the next step in continuing the legacies of the Schultz and Olander families.
The Olander legacy traces back to its founder, Charles Olander. After establishing Olander Florist in Roseland, he relocated the business to Markham, IL, in 1965, where it continued to flourish for decades. Eventually, the flower shop settled in Harvey, IL, where it continues to fill the community with beautiful blooms. Christy became a full-time presence at the Olander store, helping grow and manage the business.
A few years later, in 2011, Troy and Christy launched Lincolnway Florist in New Lenox, IL, further expanding their family's floral footprint.
Troy and Christy Schultz grew both a thriving floral business and a family. Their three children, Ean, McKenzie, and Parker, continued the family tradition of growing up in the flower shop. Since childhood, they've actively been a part of its success. McKenzie still continues her work on the wedding and events side of Schultz Florist. Troy's brother, Chuck, also works in the business, keeping it a true family affair.
Over the years, Schultz Florist has evolved in tandem with the industry. What began with handwritten orders has transformed into a fully digital operation, allowing the team to serve customers more efficiently. The business has expanded to include a wedding and events division, providing seamless floral experiences for both bridal and corporate clients. By purchasing products directly from growers worldwide, Schultz Florist ensures the highest quality flowers at the best prices. The team has also joined a delivery co-op, allowing them to share their floral artistry with customers beyond their local delivery area.
Through every generation, Schultz Florist has remained rooted in family, community, and a love of flowers. Growing with the times while keeping the heart of the business beautifully timeless is what Schultz Florist is all about.
